The simple life

The simple life

Simplify your life. The simpler the better, the easier the better. Kids are so much in the moment and carefree it is enviable. Memory can be useful but more often than not, it is a hinderance. Memory is mind. All thoughts, perception, calculations, rationalisation, analyzation and mental activities are from memory and mind. Mind and memory complicates and hinders freedom and inner peace.

A simple life is a content life. Content with the current situation, thankful for the status quo and the present moment. Don’t desire to be free. Free all your desires. Live life wholly and enthusiastically, joyfully and blissfully enjoying the here and now. Innocence is simplicity. Simplicity is ease of mind and freedom.

Complicated things are made up of simple stuff. Stick with the basic and simple. It’s quick and more effective. Keep the outward materialistic life simple and basic but the spiritual and inward limitless and boundless. Plunge into the bottomless pit of self and discover through the dark nights of the soul new horizons, new dimensions of the infinite.

To simplify is to peel off the layers upon layers of unnecessary skin or burden. To give away any unneeded belonging and attachments. To live enough and appreciatively so as to spend more time alone meditation, exploring the creativity of self silence. To share one’s possessions unconditionally. To look after interest of others first.

As the Dalai Lama puts it “a wisely selfish” act is to look after the community’s interest first before oneself. The interests and happiness of many far exceeds the happiness of self. By looking after the happiness of many, one becomes happy many fold. Many will in turn reciprocate happiness back to the one or few.

If one climbs a mountain, it is best to be light on the burden or baggage.  Many times to reach the peak one has to divest all baggage and belongings along the final steep climb up. To simplify is to be light-hearted. A simple man laughs and smiles a lot naturally. Enjoyment comes easy. Peace of mind and heart flows fluently.

Being simple is not to be swayed by peer pressure or other’s impression of yourself. No one to impress and no horns to blow. Simply be in the moment. Taking it breath by breath, present moment to present moment. Not holding on to the past and not expecting any result in the future. Pure, good and useful intention is enough
